The Best Men’s Jeans for 2024
Men’s jeans may seem a straightforward, everyday clothing item, but more often than not, they prove quite hard to shop for. With multiple styles, fits, colors, weights and fabrics available, finding the best pair of denim jeans at a price that won’t break the bank is challenging, to say the least.
Due to the above reasons, “the best jeans” was usually considered a somewhat elusive term. Until now.
We set out to find the best men’s jeans for 2024, and we think we found it. Mott & Bow’s Mercer jeans combine the comfort of jeans with the elevated look of chinos. The result? All the benefits of jeans (i.e., absolute comfort, extreme stretch, complete versatility, easy maintenance) in a dressier pair that makes the perfect business casual pants, at a more than fair price.
Made from the softest twill denim, available in straight, slim and skinny fits, and in over fourteen unique washes, we’re sure men all over will fall in love with this pair’s anti-flat-butt technology, insane comfort levels, and dressier fabric.
Below are the key factors our team took into consideration when analyzing this pair.
01.
Anti Flat-Butt Technology.
First off, the most unique and downright amazing feature of the Mercer. Anti-flat-butt tech for men?! We also wondered what that even meant, but after trying these jeans we can confirm it’s undeniably superb, and we don’t understand how no one thought of this sooner.
Mott & Bow basically took the butt-lifting tech they were using on their women’s jeans and added it into their men’s jeans, albeit with some adjustments, to maintain a more masculine essence. The Mercer contours, lifts and sculpts your butt, giving it an all-around flattering look. It makes it appear rounder and fuller. Mott & Bow’s ads warned these jeans “may provoke unsolicited female stares” and “unwarranted butt-grabs”, and we stand behind that warning. They truly make your butt look great!
The Mercer jean’s back pockets are strategically positioned vertically and horizontally, emphasizing the separation of the back, to make your butt look fuller. They’re also meticulously crafted with the perfect size: the bigger the pocket, the smaller and flatter the butt will look, so Mott & Bow looked to strike the exact balance of functional, roomy pockets that broaden and boost instead of reducing.
The size and shape of the yoke —the patch of jeans between the waistband and butt pockets, which has a major incidence on how jeans fit and look from behind— is also expertly designed to accentuate the top of your butt, creating a rounder, more pronounced shape.
Lastly, the Mercer jean’s contouring waistband contributes to defining your backside, as well, and their expert color fading has a sculpting effect that lifts and gives your butt a more rotund appearance. Perfect for men who’ve struggled with having a flat behind, or who don’t like it when the butt area of their jeans appears droopy or saggy, this anti-flat-butt tech is one of the main reasons why we think the Mercer is the best pair of denim jeans a man could ask for.
02.
Color options.
With a remarkable selection of 14 colors (and counting!), the Mercer comes in a variety of washes we have seldom seen in other brands. In addition to classic colors such as blue, black, bone, navy, or light gray, Mott & Bow also carries some very unique ones: their burgundy and olive tones make for some original outfits, for example. Their khaki and light khaki hues are also super versatile choices, and if you’re looking for brown options, they deliver: with saddle, clay, and apricot washes ranging from lighter to darker browns, there truly is something for everyone.
Timeless, easy to dress up or down, and absolutely sophisticated, any of these colors are a great addition to a man’s wardrobe.
It’s also worth mentioning that the Mercer is fade-resistant, so it’ll keep its original vibrancy and crispness, no matter how many times you wash it. And, as all of Mott & Bow’s products, the Mercer undergoes the brand’s signature pre-shrunk and pre-wash process, which guarantees it won’t shrink, pill or lose its shape, even after many, many laundry cycles.
03.
Multiple fits.
Mott & Bow is known for offering tailored, perfect fits, and the Mercer is no exception. The craftsmanship of these jeans is truly remarkable: with high-end Caruzzo tortoise buttons, a well constructed zipper fly, and extremely neat, quality stitching, the Mercer certainly seems to live up to the Mott & Bow promise of a “premium essential made for you to love and wear for years to come”.
The Mercer jeans come in slim, straight and skinny fits, which definitely earns them some major points in our book. There’s no worse feeling than finding a pair of jeans you love, only to discover they’re solely made in a fit that’s not the one you wear!
We found that the jeans fit just like the brand said they would. The slim fit is slim fitted through the hips, with a slight taper at the hem. The straight fit is relaxed through the hips and thighs, with a straight leg opening, and the skinny fit features a tighter fit with a tapered leg opening, and turns narrower from hip to hem.
04.
Stretch and comfort.
The Mercer is exceptionally comfortable. That’s mostly due to its 20% stretch factor. Mott & Bow has developed an exclusive technology called “Comfort stretch”, which packs its jeans with insane stretch and comfort levels, all while maintaining their premium denim quality.
05.
Price.
At $129 dollars, we think the Mercer is fairly priced for a premium denim pair of jeans. Its high-quality craftsmanship, luxury denim sourced from Italy and Turkey, ultra soft feel and anti-flat-butt technology are truly remarkable. Mott & Bow definitely competes with other denim-expert brands such as AG Jeans, and their prices reflect that.
In addition, its multiple color selection, and various fit, waist and inseam options, make these jeans a highly customizable pair.
And since they’re made to last, we think they’re a really smart buy. As we mentioned, Mott & Bow promises their Mercer jeans won’t fade, shrink or lose their shape, so you should be able to get a good amount of years of wear out of them.
06.
Size range.
In a sense, we feel like the Mercer is a completely customizable pair of jeans. With 14 unique colors to choose from that cater to the classic and the sharp dresser alike, and three perfect fits, the options continue with multiple waist sizes and inseam lengths!
The Mercer jeans waist sizes range from 29 to 38, and their 30”, 32” and 34” inseam options guarantee you’ll get your perfect fit, right from the start. Mott & Bow claims they offer jeans “made for every height”, as opposed to the majority of denim brands, which produce only one inseam length, catered to the “average” height. That’s why some jeans will look short on tall men, or long on shorter guys. But Mott & Bow’s jeans promise to deliver a tailored fit, without requiring a visit to the tailor.
We think this is something super valuable, as not having to visit a tailor for hemming or adjusting certainly saves you time, and makes the jeans ready to wear, right out of the box. Having perfect-fitting jeans also gives you a more polished and professional appearance, and eliminates uncomfortable stacking or bunching. (These are the best denim jeans for men, we’re telling you!)
07.
Fabric type.
Made of 98% cotton, the Mercer’s Twill denim is luxuriously soft to the touch and on the skin. It’s also super breathable, making it an ideal choice for all-day wear. The combination of its unique stretch factor and its soft fabric guarantees absolute flexibility—this pair won’t ever drag you down or restrict your movements.
The Mercer features a medium-weight fabric of 10 oz., which is what gives it its substantial, luxurious feel, and makes it the perfect business casual pant. Though perfect for informal occasions as well, the weight, feel, color and fit of these jeans don’t make it feel out of place in boardrooms, offices, date nights or fancy restaurants.
Mott & Bow most definitely ranks as a quiet luxury brand that delivers true, premium quality denim, the Mercer being one of their best products. And their signature anti-flat-butt, comfort-stretch and anti-fading technologies are first-rate, some of the finest we’ve ever tried. If you’re looking for a pair of exceptionally comfortable pants that are perfect for both casual and business casual occasions, we can’t recommend the Mercer enough.
What do you think? Do you agree that Mott & Bow’s Mercer jeans are the best denim jeans for men for 2024?
